Challenge
WWL’s health IT challenges were interdependent, and very complex. Handwritten notes were difficult to read, and WWL accumulated physical paper documents at an exponential rate. In addition, clinicians had trouble accessing the data within these notes. The data was poor, systems were poor, and the clinicians were struggling with an influx of paper documents. Something needed to be done.
Results
Allscripts helped WWL:
- Go live with clinical systems at its own pace, and with the existing PAS
- Gain electronic access to data that enables better communication and care coordination
- Build on early benefits by going paperless, standardizing clinical pathways and sharing data with other hospitals.
