How UHS uses Allscripts Supply Chain Services

Universal Health Services (UHS) is one of the largest and most respected providers of hospital and healthcare services. UHS has more than 400 acute care hospitals, behavioral health facilities and ambulatory centers across the US, Puerto Rico and the UK.

With 90,000 employees, UHS delivered care in 2019 to 3.5 million patients across inpatient and outpatient access points. UHS generated net revenues of approximately $11.4 billion, an increase of 5.6% over 2018.

Since 2005, UHS has partnered with Allscripts for supply chain services such as requisitioning, AP/GL (accounts payable/general ledger), fixed assets, reporting, content management and GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) management services. The partnership enables UHS to effectively create and track Purchase Orders, automate inventory and write reports.

“We have been using the software since 2005. Two years ago, our new Vice President of Supply Chain Operations asked me to look at other Enterprise Resource Planning software solutions in the industry to validate that Allscripts was the correct solution for UHS. After several months and many discussions, it WAS determined that Allscripts was the best solution for the UHS dynamic,” said Dwain A. Meyer, UHS Corporate IS/Clinical Systems Director.
