Enabling patients to take control of their health
Patients expect their healthcare providers to offer online tools to help them manage their health. Since adopting the certified portal in 2014, Sharp Rees-Stealy, which is part of Sharp HealthCare, San Diego’s largest integrated healthcare system, has enrolled more than 190,000 patients. Increasing self-scheduled appointments has improved both efficiency and patient satisfaction.
Sharp HealthCare understands the importance of engaging patients in their own healthcare and initially developed its own in-house portal, mySharp, prior to moving to Allscripts FollowMyHealth. With 22 locations, Sharp Rees-Stealy is one of the largest, most comprehensive medical groups in San Diego County.
But, as part of attestation requirements for the Meaningful Use incentive program, Sharp Rees-Stealy migrated to a certified portal, FollowMyHealth, in October 2014. The platform helps patients manage their health by enabling them to schedule appointments, view test results, send secure messages to their physicians and more.
