CHICAGO, Oct. 10 /PRNewswire/ — Allscripts Healthcare Solutions
(Nasdaq: MDRX), the leading provider of point-of-care decision support tools
for physicians, announced today that the University of Minnesota Physicians
has chosen Allscripts to implement its TouchWorks(TM)suite of clinical
applications. Allscripts will provide TouchWorks to a total of 1,800 users,
including 450 physicians who practice in more than 44 medical specialties and

Physicians Board. Selection requirements included specialty-specific
flexibility, the availability of leading-edge applications, the ability to
interface with their current IDX practice management system, as well as the
financial viability of the vendor.

“We are excited about the opportunity to implement an electronic record
that is physician owned, archived for our practice and linked to our hospital
partner for data access,” said Roby C. Thompson, Jr., M.D., Chairman of the
Board and CEO for University of Minnesota Physicians. “We specialize in
breakthroughs and we think this will be another one for our Faculty.
Allscripts set of solutions will enable us to provide our physicians with just

patients, nothing is more valuable than having the best information at your
fingertips.”

Todd R. Carlon, Executive Director, Chief Financial Officer for the
University of Minnesota Physicians, added, “After extensive research we chose
Allscripts because of their forward looking technology and the fact that their
suite of applications could be deployed in a modular fashion. Additionally,
their ability to implement effectively and in an aggressive time frame were
important factors in our selection.”

“This represents one of our largest and most extensive agreements to
date”, commented Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts
Healthcare Solutions. “University of Minnesota is a leader and is taking a
significant step in improving their access to information by providing
TouchWorks applications to their 450 physicians. Our modular suite of
