Citrus Valley Health Partners and MidMichigan Health also to offer Allscripts Electronic Health Record to Affiliated Physicians

CHICAGO, Sept. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ —

CHICAGO, Sept. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ Two multi-hospital health systems in California and Michigan have selected Allscripts (NASDAQ: MDRX) to drive their community connectivity strategies by delivering ‘one source of truth’ that bridges information gaps often encountered between hospitals and independent providers who treat the same patients.

Citrus Valley Health Partners (CVHP) in Covina, Calif. and MidMichigan Health in Midland, Mich. will use the Allscripts Community Record powered by dbMotion to provide their physicians and other caregivers with shared access to a single, unified patient record. Additionally, both health systems will offer to host and underwrite a portion of the cost of the Allscripts Electronic Health Record for their affiliated physicians – private practice physicians with hospital referring privileges.

“Our partnership with Allscripts will enable Citrus Valley Health Partners and our community providers to meet the challenges of exchanging complete, accurate and timely health information,” said David McCobb, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of CVHP. “This will allow for a team approach to better understand our patients health status and, most importantly, to manage their care together.”

Citrus Valley Health Partners operates three non-profit community hospitals, a large in-patient hospice hospital and a robust home health program. CVHP has approximately 1,000 affiliated physicians.

Ryan Winn, Vice President and Chief Information Officer of MidMichigan Health, commented, “This project represents Michigan‘s first practical option for exchanging patient information and will give providers across our communities an enterprise view of their patient’s record within their EHR, whether it’s an Allscripts EHR or another.”

MidMichigan is a partnership of health providers, services and facilities that encompasses four medical centers with 459 total beds, homecare and hospice, 185 licensed nursing home beds, and over 400 employed and affiliated physicians. MidMichigan previously selected the Allscripts Electronic Health Record for its employed physicians and has already deployed the EHR in the Family Practice Center at MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland.

“Leading organizations like Citrus Valley Health Partners and MidMichigan Health are helping physicians across the country to break down the ‘walls’ between competitive IT systems, giving them seamless access through their daily workflow to a virtual patient record that’s shared across the community,” said Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts. “We are excited to partner with CVHP and MidMichigan to build a Connected Community of Health in which all caregivers have access to comprehensive clinical information, providing the insights they need to improve outcomes for their patients.”

The Allscripts Electronic Health Record with integrated practice management is designed specifically to help physicians in independent and small-group practice overcome cost and IT complexity barriers. Available as both an on-premise and cloud-based solution, the EHR lets physicians choose the delivery method that works best for them, and offers robust capabilities for electronic health, practice management and claims management.

The Allscripts Community Record securely exchanges information between clinical systems from multiple vendors across a community. The solution harmonizes the data and presents it in the appropriate place and time within the caregiver’s EHR workflow, rather than requiring them to log into a web portal or view read-only documents as is common with other methods of information exchange. This high level of flexible information exchange positions health systems and their affiliated groups to address current and future healthcare challenges, such as regulatory compliance, quality measures, and disease management.
