CHICAGO and BEND, Ore., Oct. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Allscripts

Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Practice Management solution for its 33
providers.

Founded in 1954, the Center is one of the largest multi-specialty
physician groups in Central Oregon. Its staff includes specialists in
orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery and physical medicine and rehabilitation. The
Center is replacing its existing practice management system with Allscripts –
and adding the Enterprise Electronic Health Record – to improve its ability to
provide high quality care more cost-effectively.
“When I first came to healthcare from a broad background in other
industries, I was surprised at the lack of automation and the lack of
electronic processing that exists across the healthcare system,” said Mark
Fairbanks, Chief Executive Officer of The Center, who previously was Chief
Financial Officer of a United Health Group operating unit. “Paper-based
records are onerous, cumbersome, and expensive to maintain, so it was never a
question of ‘if’ we needed an electronic health record but rather who we would
select and the answer was Allscripts.”
Fairbanks added that the Electronic Health Record will improve service to
the Center’s patients, and enable the practice to connect with St. Charles
Hospital and share patient information in real-time to enhance the
coordination of care. The Center has agreed to collaborate with the hospital’s
delivery system to help in the development of a single, comprehensive regional
ambulatory health record.
The Center spent two years reviewing and carefully analyzing different
Electronic Health Record and Practice Management products before selecting
Allscripts, said Fairbanks. “We liked the fact that Allscripts has a proven
and very impressive product that’s very innovative,” he said. “But more than
that, the differentiator for us was the level of satisfaction we found among
Allscripts customers and the company’s strong focus on implementation. We’re
not interested in someone selling us a product and then going away. We want a
partner who’ll work with us for a long time and we think that partner is
Allscripts.”
Allscripts Chief Executive Officer Glen Tullman commented, “The Center has
distinguished itself among physician groups in Central Oregon by focusing on
both quality care and service, as well as what will be required to deliver
even better coordinated care in the future. We’re pleased that they have
selected Allscripts as their partner in helping them connect to health –
improving quality, eliminating errors and reducing cost.”
The Allscripts Enterprise Electronic Health Record enables physicians to
instantly access patient information when and where they need it – in the
clinic, at the hospital or while on-call at home. The web-based solution
speeds and automates everyday clinical tasks such as prescribing and refilling
medications, ordering and viewing tests, and documenting care. More than
simply automating manual tasks, the Electronic Health Record helps to
transform healthcare with breakthroughs in connectivity including preloaded
connections to a range of medical devices, and seamless support for public and
private pay-for-performance and quality initiatives, as well as an advanced
user experience that lets physicians in any specialty easily configure the
system to their own specific needs.
The Allscripts Enterprise Practice Management solution combines
sophisticated scheduling and Revenue Cycle Management tools in a single
package and incorporates advanced features such as rule-based appointment
scheduling, multi-resource and recurring appointment features, referral and
eligibility indicators, and appointment and claims management.
