Care ReDesign Strategy Includes mEMR Solution
ORANGE, Calif., and CHICAGO, July 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Allscripts
Healthcare Solutions (Nasdaq: MDRX), the leading provider of clinical software
and information solutions for physicians, announced today that St. Joseph
Health System (SJHS) selected the full suite of TouchWorks(TM) clinical
applications for 100 physicians, with the option of adding more physicians at
a later date.
SJHS selected the TouchWorks EMR solution as one of the four pillars of
their Care ReDesign initiative to drive patient safety and organization
efficiency. SJHS is redesigning their care processes to take maximum
advantage of clinical automation solutions. SJHS will use this change to
develop and standardize their best practices, specifically in the outpatient
setting.

Using the modular approach to the electronic medical record, or mEMR(TM),
SJHS can first implement the capabilities of the EMR that matter most to their
physicians, and add more functionality at their own pace. SJHS will initially
bring physicians live on the digital dictation, document management, result
viewing, e-prescribing, and physician reference modules of the TouchWorks EMR.
Later phases will add charge capture, order entry, document imaging (scanning)
and clinical documentation components. With implementation efforts already
underway, SJHS expects to bring TouchWorks live in September of this year.

integration of TouchWorks and Flowcast links clinical and financial
activities, driving operational improvements. For example, physicians using a
handheld device can enter patient encounter related information at the point
of care using TouchWorks and then submit the data wirelessly to IDX billing
software, a process that ensures accuracy, increases efficiency and speeds
reimbursement.
