Solutions (Nasdaq:MDRX), the leading provider of clinical software and
information solutions for physicians, announced that Robert A. Compton
joined the Allscripts Board of Directors effective August 1, 2003.
With a broad background in healthcare, medical devices and software
technology companies, the Company expects to leverage Mr. Compton’s
experience in its TouchWorks(TM) and Physicians Interactive(TM)
business units.
Mr. Compton has been a successful entrepreneur and venture
capitalist for the past 20 years. He founded the privately-held
medical software company NoInk Communications in February 2000 and
serves as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Compton has
funded or started more than two-dozen companies in software, medical
devices, and healthcare services.
Previously, Mr. Compton was President of the Neurologic
Technologies division of Medtronic, a $7.5 billion medical technology
company. Prior to Medtronic, he was President and COO of Sofamor Danek
Group, a $400 million medical device company acquired by Medtronic for
$3.7 billion. In both of these businesses, Mr. Compton worked directly
with physicians, hospitals and clinics throughout the country. With an
undergraduate degree from Principia College and an MBA from Harvard
Business School, Mr. Compton serves as a Trustee of the Campbell
Orthopaedic Research Foundation and the Ewing Marion Kauffman
Foundation.
