CHICAGO and HARTFORD, Conn., Feb. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Allscripts,
the leading provider of clinical software, connectivity and information

ProHealth will implement the integrated Allscripts solution for their 180
physicians and 60 mid-level providers in more than 80 locations across
Hartford, New Haven, Middlesex, Tolland and Litchfield counties.
“By taking the paper out of medicine, Allscripts will enable us to improve
processes in all of our offices for greater efficiency and enhanced care,”
said Jack Reed, President and Chief Executive Officer of Prohealth Physicians.
The Allscripts Electronic Health Record enables physicians to instantly
access patient information when and where they need it — in their practice,
at the hospital or while on-call at home. The web-based solution speeds and
automates everyday clinical tasks such as prescribing and refilling
medications, ordering and viewing tests, and documenting care. The Allscripts
Practice Management solution combines sophisticated scheduling and revenue
cycle management tools in a single package and incorporates advanced features
such as rule-based appointment scheduling, multi-resource and recurring
appointment features, referral and eligibility indicators, and appointment and
claims management.
ProHealth selected Allscripts after a year-long search that included
visiting several large physician practices who utilize Allscripts Electronic
Health Record and Practice Management.
“We were impressed to discover that physician groups across the country
have been energized by Allscripts vision of transforming healthcare through
information technology, and by the Allscripts commitment to developing a
real-world platform for community-based health information exchange,” said
Bruce Campbell, Ph.D., M.D., Senior Vice President and Chief Information
Officer of ProHealth Physicians. “We believe the integrated electronic health
record and practice management system will enable us to continue to grow and
create value for our patients, our physician owners, other community
providers, and payors active in the communities that we serve.”
Allscripts Chief Executive Officer Glen Tullman commented, “ProHealth has
set itself apart as a true leader in Connecticut with a focus on quality
patient care today and what will be required to deliver even better
coordinated care tomorrow. We are already working with ProHealth and insurers
to determine how we can better connect, coordinate care, and deliver
preventative information to patients when and where it matters most, at the
point of care. We’re very much looking forward to working with them.”
