FORT WAYNE, Ind. & CHICAGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Oct. 21,
2005–Allscripts (Nasdaq:MDRX), the leading provider of clinical
software, connectivity and information solutions that physicians use
to improve healthcare, today announced that Parkview Medical Group has
chosen the TouchWorks(TM) Electronic Health Record to automate and
connect physicians across 19 physician group practices, including its
newest, state-of-the art facility.
Parkview Medical Group, part of Parkview Health, which is one of
the largest health systems in northeast Indiana with more than 180,000
patient visits through its physician practices each year. The
electronic health record (EHR) will provide a secure network for
physicians to access patient information across the continuum of care.
“After an extensive review of electronic health record vendors,
Parkview Medical Group chose Allscripts because of its solid
functionality and workflow support for our physicians and clinicians
in the office setting,” said Lisa Cline, Director of Application
Services at Parkview Health. “The implementation of the TouchWorks EHR
supports our goal of improving the quality of care for our patients.”
The automation of physicians tasks will enable Parkview Medical
Group to turn its newest physician practice facility into a completely
paperless practice, setting a new standard for care and efficiency.
The web-based TouchWorks EHR will connect Parkview Medical Group’s
physicians with each other, and with outside laboratories and
pharmacies, allowing physicians to electronically order and view lab
tests and send prescriptions.
“Recently named as one of the ‘100 Most Wired’ and also one of the
’25 Most Wireless Health Systems’ in Hospital & Health Network’s 2005
Most Wired Survey, Parkview required a state-of-the-art solution that
would connect ambulatory physicians to their patients records at the
point-of-care and from anywhere else the physician might be, at any
time,” said Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts.
“TouchWorks will meet that requirement, providing Parkview’s physician
practices with real-time information and connectivity to key
stakeholders across the healthcare continuum, allowing Parkview to
lead the transformation of healthcare in northeast Indiana.”
Parkview Medical Group will integrate TouchWorks with its existing
IDX(R) Groupcast(R) practice management solution from IDX Systems
Corporation. Allscripts and IDX share a 10-year strategic relationship
that will directly link clinical and financial information to support
operational improvements at Parkview Medical Group’s physician
practices.
