CHICAGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–June 30, 2006–Allscripts (Nasdaq:MDRX),
the leading provider of clinical software, connectivity and
information solutions that physicians use to improve healthcare, today
announced that Ohio’s Fisher-Titus Medical Center (FTMC) and Magruder
Hospital will both implement the HealthMatics(R) ED Emergency
Department Information System from Allscripts to automate the more
than 41,000 emergency room visits annually at the two organizations.

HealthMatics(R) ED will enable FTMC and Magruder Hospital to
create more accurate clinical documentation and billing for their own
patients through electronic order entry and prescription management.
The two organizations made the joint purchase as members of Community
Care 5, a business partnership of five independent North Central Ohio
hospitals who work together, pooling resources for information
technology and other investments that positively impact regional
healthcare quality.

“Through Community Care 5, Fisher-Titus Medical Center and
Magruder Hospital are working together to invest in technologies that
significantly improve patient care,” said Patrick J. Martin, President
of FTMC, which includes the 112-bed Fisher-Titus Memorial Hospital, a
69-bed skilled nursing facility, a 48-unit assisted living facility
and a Home Health Center. “HealthMatics ED exemplifies our commitment
to offering our patients the most advanced technology and medical
treatment possible while providing the highest level of personal
care.”

HealthMatics ED electronically streamlines processes for the
entire Emergency Department, including tracking, triage, nurse and
physician charting, and reporting. FTMC and Magruder Hospital also
will take advantage of the systems auto-paging feature, which
automatically alerts caregivers to events such as abnormal lab results
and outstanding orders. Other system features include Remote Chart
Access for community caregivers and hospital staff, so they can
securely access a patient’s chart remotely.

“We needed a system that would seamlessly integrate with our
existing clinical and financial systems by Siemens, and that would be
interoperable with Emergency Department systems in use at other
Community Care 5 hospitals,” said David R. Norwine, President and
Chief Executive Officer of Magruder. “We believe Allscripts is the
safe choice given their leadership role in inter-operability and
connectivity, and because they have the experience and track record of
many successful deployments.”

Additionally, Fisher-Titus and Magruder were impressed by
Allscripts stability in the marketplace, and by the flexibility of
HealthMatics ED. “HealthMatics ED proved to our selection committee
that it could easily be customized for the caregivers at both
locations,” said John Britton, Director of Information Systems at FTMC
and Chief Information Officer at Magruder Hospital.

Fisher-Titus will implement the technology first, with Magruder
quickly following.

“The level of collaboration between Fisher-Titus Medical Center
and Magruder Hospital is exactly what is needed to both connect and
enhance emergency care for the community of north central Ohio,” said
Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts. “HealthMatics ED
will allow Emergency Department caregivers from the two organizations
to work more efficiently by enabling better information flow within
the department, between the ED and the rest of the hospital, with
outside providers and between the two hospitals. All of which
translates into the most important bottom line of all – improved
patient care and a reduction in duplicate work, which means lower
costs.”
