“TouchWorks improves the information available to our physicians, leading
to better care, and solves many of the problems associated with paper
records,” said Susan Merola-McConn, M.D., Executive Vice President of North
Medical, PC, which serves more than 300,000 patients each year. “To practice
high quality, accessible healthcare, we wanted a complete system that would
integrate the front end and back end of our practice, and Allscripts is the
one.”

North Medical will implement the full TouchWorks Electronic Health Record
( https://www.allscripts.com/prdTWEMR.aspx ), including the web-based
solution’s personal health record, disease management and clinical trials
capabilities. TouchWorks provides patient-physician connectivity enabling
patients to securely access their own online personal health record, schedule
appointments, request prescription refills, and conduct secure, online
consultations with their physician. TouchWorks also enables North Medical to
quickly and accurately locate subjects for clinical trials, and interface its
database of patient records with the world’s most widely used clinical trial
management software.

The TouchWorks Electronic Health Record and Practice Management solution
is built on a single intelligent platform with Microsoft SQL Server technology
to meet the clinical and administrative needs of medical groups across the
country. The Practice Management system
( https://www.allscripts.com/prdTWEMR.aspx ) combines sophisticated scheduling
and financial management tools in a single package and incorporates advanced
features such as rule-based appointment scheduling, multi-resource and
recurring appointment features, referral and eligibility indicators, and
appointment and claims management.

North Medical selected Allscripts for the company’s stability, its strong
reputation among multi-specialty groups, and its ability to deliver reliable,
interoperable, high-performance clinical and financial solutions.

“At the pace we’re growing, we needed a company that could keep up with
us, and Allscripts has proven that it can keep pace with anyone,” said Steve
Spector, Director of Information Technology and Ancillary Services at North
Medical. “We also wanted to work with a company that deals with larger, more
complex multi-specialty groups in a user friendly way, and that can meet the
information needs of every medical specialty. And, again, Allscripts fit the
bill.”

Allscripts Chief Executive Officer Glen Tullman commented, “High quality
physician leadership, paired with strong executive and technology support, are
the keys to success in deploying an Electronic Health Record. It is very clear
that North Medical has the right people and a clear vision of enhancing
patient care and bottom line performance.”
