TUCSON, Ariz. & CHICAGO, Oct 25, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Allscripts, (Nasdaq:MDRX), the leading provider of
clinical software, connectivity and information solutions that
physicians use to improve healthcare, today announced that
Neurological Associates of Tucson will implement the TouchWorks(TM)
Electronic Health Record (EHR).
In August of 2005, Governor Janet Napolitano issued a statewide
e-health information infrastructure Executive Order to improve the
quality and reduce the cost of healthcare in Arizona. The Executive
Order includes the development of a Steering Committee to submit the
Arizona Health-e Connection Roadmap, detailing recommended actions and
key milestone dates to achieve within the next five years. This
Roadmap will be used to guide legislative and regulatory actions and
maximize federal financial participation to support the goal of early
adoption of an e-health information infrastructure.
“With the Statewide Executive Order handed down by the Governor,
Neurological Associates of Tucson found it imperative to fulfill the
order with a clinical software system that would meet both the needs
of the state requirements and our physicians’ needs,” said Jane S.
Jensen, MBA, Executive Director of Neurological Associates of Tucson.
“With Allscripts, our physicians are taking a leadership role in
providing better patient care and reducing healthcare costs for the
citizens and visitors of Arizona.”
Neurological Associates of Tucson is on the brink of developing a
new practice paradigm in a soon to be constructed state-of-the-art
setting with a new name and mission. The new name, Center for
Neurosciences, reflects on the group’s desire to provide a full
complement of the highest quality neurological and neurological
surgical services. In order to make this paradigm shift and advance
its mission Neurological Associates needed the benefits and
efficiencies an EHR can provide.
“Neurological Associates decision to deploy the TouchWorks
Electronic Health Record confirms the continued expansion and
development of the market. With State and Federal encouragement, small
to midsize groups, including key specialties, are joining the rapidly
growing market for electronic healthcare,” said Glen Tullman, Chief
Executive Officer of Allscripts. “Allscripts provided Neurological
Associates of Tucson with a solution that met their specific
requirements, budget and timeframe for implementation. We applaud the
State of Arizona, which recognized the importance of early adoption of
information technology. With a fully automated electronic health
record, Neurological Associates of Tucson are not only answering the
call from the State Governor, but the President.”
Neurological Associates of Tucson will integrate TouchWorks with
its existing IDX(R) Groupcast(TM) practice management solution from
IDX Systems Corporation. Allscripts and IDX share a 10-year strategic
relationship that will directly link clinical and financial
information to support operational improvements at Neurological
Associates of Tucson.
