Multi-Hospital Health System to Use SaaS-Based Solution to Improve Patient Care and Streamline Operations
CHICAGO and PORTLAND, Ore., Jan 11, 2010 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ — Allscripts (Nasdaq: MDRX) announced today that Legacy Health has selected the Allscripts Care Management solution for its six hospitals and two post-acute care facilities, helping to manage and coordinate care for the 90,000 patients it serves each year.
Not-for-profit Legacy provides an integrated network of healthcare services across six hospitals and specialty and primary care clinics in the Portland and Vancouver metropolitan regions.
The Allscripts care management solution will streamline and automate Legacy’s entire care management process including utilization, case management, discharge and quality management, while generating an immediate return on investment by reducing denials of appropriate claims, and ensuring patient stays are timed appropriately for the best care. A web-based, Software as a Service (SaaS) solution, Allscripts can be deployed quickly and efficiently with minimal IT support. The result: increased productivity, improved patient throughput, lower claims denials and better health outcomes.
“At Legacy, we are committed to ensuring quality and timely care for our patients,” said Toni Propotnik, RNMN CMAC, Director, Care Management for Legacy Health. “Today, we have multiple manual processes that are very time consuming and often frustrating for our staff and patients. Allscripts will help us deliver on our promise of quality healthcare by creating a comprehensive and integrated care management program with seamless communication between utilization review, case management and discharge planning.”
Allscripts streamlines the utilization management process by electronically capturing critical patient data and guiding case managers in securing authorization and payment of care from insurers. The solution also creates an effective denial management program to track claim denials and improve an organization’s success rate with appeals.
Allscripts also automates the referral of discharged patients to post-acute facilities, eliminating the time-consuming and costly process of case managers manually phoning and faxing to secure post-acute care services, one provider at a time. Case managers send a detailed electronic referral to selected locations across the Allscripts network of more than 100,000 post-acute providers.
“Legacy Health understood that the next step in providing quality care for their patients was to provide an integrated care experience and connect all the pieces of the process, providing more comprehensive information to the caregivers and reducing errors, duplication and ultimately, cost,” said Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts. “Legacy will leverage our SaaS-based solution to immediately improve the care management process and create a seamless transition to Legacy’s post-acute care facilities. We’re looking forward to partnering with them on this initiative.”
