    DES MOINES, Iowa & CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 23, 2003--

              Iowa's Largest Integrated Healthcare System
Will Upgrade Over 450 Physicians to Complete TouchWorks EMR

Allscripts Healthcare Solutions (AHS) (Nasdaq: MDRX), the leading
provider of clinical software and information solutions for
physicians, announced today that Iowa Health System (IHS), Iowa’s
largest integrated healthcare system and current AHS client, has
signed an agreement to expand its use of the TouchWorks(TM) electronic
medical record (EMR) to automate more than 450 physicians. AHS
officials estimated the value of this deal at over $2.6 million
dollars.

“We’re counting on TouchWorks to help our physicians provide the
best possible care for their patients and also deliver even more
efficiency for our physicians and their practices,” commented Wayne
Schellhammer, Vice President of Physician Services for Iowa Health
System.

Already using the e-prescribing module of the full EMR, Iowa
Health System will upgrade its TouchWorks solution using a modular
approach. While TouchWorks is a full EMR and can be implemented as
such, the modular approach enables physicians to adopt one or a few
modules of the full solution first, get comfortable, and then add more
functionality over time, progressing to a full EMR at their own pace.
Focusing on physician workflow, the modular approach eases the change
from paper processes to the TouchWorks EMR, leading to higher
physician utilization and a more rapid return on investment (ROI).

“The key to a successful EMR is physician utilization, and the
modular approach helps physicians adopt the clinical automation
solutions that help them care for patients,” stated Glen Tullman,
Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts Healthcare Solutions. “The
modular approach is central to the TouchWorks solution.”

Iowa Health System will integrate TouchWorks with its existing IDX
Groupcast Practice Management System. The integration of TouchWorks
and Groupcast will directly link clinical and financial activities and
drive operational improvements.
