CHICAGO & INDIANAPOLIS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Aug. 24, 2006–Allscripts
(Nasdaq:MDRX), the leading provider of clinical software, connectivity
and information solutions that physicians use to improve healthcare,
announced today that Indiana Heart Associates will deploy the
TouchWorks(TM) Electronic Health Record to automate everyday clinical
tasks, and enhance the quality and efficiency of patient care.
Allscripts also announced that it has entered into a strategic
alliance with MedAxiom, an association of more than 220 cardiology
groups that aggregates and reports on key clinical and financial data
to benchmark and improve performance.
Indiana Heart Associates (IHA) is one of the largest cardiology
groups in Indiana and is closely affiliated with the prestigious
Indiana Heart Hospital. The physician group will use the Electronic
Health Record from Allscripts to connect and automate its 23
cardiologists and six nurse practitioners across nine locations in the
Indianapolis area.
“At IHA, we believe in the one-on-one patient approach to cardiac
care, with a close, personal, physician-patient relationship that
depends on knowing your patients well,” said Tony Javorka, Chief
Executive Officer of Indiana Heart Associates. “The Electronic Health
Record from Allscripts will help us continue to live up to that
promise by ensuring that all of our providers have the right
information at their fingertips when and where they need it most – at
the point of care.”
Indiana Heart Associates is a member of MedAxiom and will find the
sharing of information easier and more efficient with its new
Electronic Health Record. Under the terms of the recently signed
MedAxiom agreement, Allscripts will market its TouchWorks and
HealthMatics(R) Electronic Health Record solutions
https://www.allscripts.com/prdHealthMatics.aspx to MedAxiom’s 4,500
physician members in more than 220 cardiology practices nationwide,
gain access to benchmarking data, and participate in the MedAxiom
Group Purchasing Organization, providing preferred pricing to MedAxiom
members.
“Allscripts has a strong track record with cardiology groups,”
said Jennifer J. Linville, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of
MedAxiom. “Connecting an industry leader like Allscripts with our
members is a critical element of advancing the use of Electronic
Health Records in clinical practice and providing better information
to our members.”
Indiana Heart Associates selected TouchWorks
https://www.allscripts.com/prdTWEMR.aspx for its deep functionality,
including the ability to more aggressively track and manage chronic
heart disease with powerful analytical tools that measure key
performance indicators, manage pay-for-performance initiatives and
provide patient population management. TouchWorks will give IHA’s
physicians instant access to clinical information across the physician
network with alerts to indicate when key disease management indicators
fall out of range, plus tools to review the details of clinical
measures such as care planning statistics, health maintenance and
provider productivity.
Indiana Heart Associates will integrate TouchWorks with its
Centricity(R) Physician Office Practice Management System (formerly
Millbrook Practice Manager) from GE. The interface directly links the
clinical and financial information systems to provide seamless
practice operations.
“We are excited to partner with IHA as they seek to enhance the
quality and efficiency of their practice,” said Glen Tullman, Chief
Executive Officer of Allscripts. “By partnering with MedAxiom, we hope
to make a direct contribution to additional practices in the MedAxiom
network to improve cardiovascular care and chronic disease management
through better accumulation and use of information.”
