CHICAGO and HUTCHINSON, Kan., May 8, 2007 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ — – Allscripts
(Nasdaq: MDRX), the leading provider of clinical software, connectivity and

Record (EHR) and Practice Management (PM) solution to automate and connect
clinical and administrative processes for its 65 physicians.

Hutchinson Clinic is a multi-specialty group practice with its main campus
in Hutchinson and satellite clinics serving small towns across a 100-mile
swath of rural Central Kansas. When the Clinic decided recently to replace its
outdated practice management system, it used the opportunity to automate the
clinical side of the practice as well.

“When you operate across a huge territory like ours, you have to make sure
that the current patient record is available at all times to every provider,
and that’s not possible without an Electronic Health Record,” said Les
Zimmerman, Hutchinson Clinic’s Chief Executive Officer. “Allscripts is the
answer, for both the clinic and the back office.”

TouchWorks will enable Hutchinson’s physicians to instantly access patient
information when and where they need it — in the main campus or satellite
offices, at the hospital or while on-call at home. The web-based solution
speeds and automates everyday clinical tasks such as prescribing and refilling
medications, ordering and viewing tests, and documenting care. Additionally,
TouchWorks combines sophisticated scheduling and financial management tools in
a single package and incorporates advanced functionality such as rule-based
appointment scheduling, multi-resource and recurring appointment features,
referral and eligibility indicators, and appointment and claims management.
The combined EHR-PM solution is built on a single intelligent platform with
Microsoft SQL Server technology to meet the clinical and administrative needs
of medical groups across the country.

“We wanted a combined system that would make us more efficient across the
business, that was intuitive and powerful enough to easily handle our volume
of patients, and Allscripts was the clear choice,” said Hutchinson Clinic
President James Ruhlmann, MD. “What also sold us was the company’s track
record on implementations, where they have a stellar reputation for making
sure that clients get up on the system without a drop-off in production.”

Hutchinson Clinic plans to offer the Allscripts solution to smaller
physician groups in Central Kansas via a Medical Service Organization (MSO)
model, said Zimmerman. The Clinic would host the solution and offer technical
support to the smaller groups in return for a monthly or annual fee.

“We are proud to have been selected by one of the nation’s leading rural
practices to transform their business,” said Glen Tullman, Chief Executive
Officer of Allscripts. “With our solutions in place, Hutchinson Clinic will
no longer have to shuffle paper charts between distant clinics and struggle to
keep critical information up to date because their physicians will have it
instantly available at all times.”
