The Allscripts solution will automate everyday clinical tasks for Holy
Cross’s physicians, while electronically connecting the group to South
Florida’s premier healthcare provider, Holy Cross Hospital, a 571-bed, non-
profit Catholic hospital. Holy Cross Medical Group is a fully-owned subsidiary
of Holy Cross Hospital. Holy Cross’s multi-specialty physicians will use
Allscripts to access real-time test results and other clinical data on their
patients in Holy Cross Hospital by integrating with the hospital’s Meditech
inpatient system.
“This initiative with Allscripts will reinforce our ‘One Patient – One
Chart’ philosophy for our medical group and our patients. We feel certain we
can deliver higher quality and safer care to our patients,” said Patrick
Taylor, MD, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Holy Cross
Hospital.
The Electronic Health Record delivers instant access to patient
information anywhere at anytime, whether providers are in the clinic, at the
hospital, or on-call at home. The solution provides physicians with robust
tools for documentation and orders, preloaded connections to a wide range of
medical devices, and seamless support for pay-for-performance and quality
initiatives. To support high quality patient care, Allscripts also provides
ready-to-use templates that deliver best practice guidelines for more than
1,200 different clinical situations and automated health management plans that
are customized for each patient.
“Large healthcare organizations can’t afford to rely on paper as the
primary means of storing and transmitting clinical information when most
patients are seen in both the hospital and outpatient settings,” said Glen
Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts. “By implementing our
Electronic Health Record, Holy Cross Medical Group is providing their
physicians with the information they need and taking the next step in
healthcare quality and patient safety.”
Holy Cross selected Allscripts after an exhaustive review of the leading
electronic health records involving numerous site visits. “We believe
Allscripts is a strong company that has the technology, and the will to
support our continued growth,” said Cristina Mata, MD, Assistant Medical
Director. “After speaking with Allscripts client physicians and comparing the
technology, we believe this is the leading-edge electronic health record with
very strong support, and the most user friendly system you can find.”
