Georgia’s Largest Privately Owned Multi-Specialty Practice Builds mEMR with TouchWorks

Healthcare Solutions (Nasdaq: MDRX), the leading provider of point-of-care
decision support tools for physicians, announced today that Harbin Clinic
(Harbin), the largest privately owned multi-specialty practice in Georgia, has
selected the full suite of TouchWorks(TM) modules for an initial group of
physicians. Harbin expects to implement the TouchWorks Dictate(TM) and
TouchWorks Document(TM) modules in the next six to eight weeks and will
ultimately roll out the full TouchWorks suite of clinical applications using the
Allscripts mobile and modular approach to the electronic medical record, or

Physician Accessibility Is Key to Choosing a Solution

With many of their physicians practicing medicine outside their main clinic,
Harbin sought a technological means to consolidate patient information, yet
enable their physicians to access this data anytime and anywhere. In choosing a
solution, Harbin focused on four criteria: 1) multiple hardware form factors and
access points — including wireless handheld device (PDA) access, 2) a modular
implementation strategy, 3) integration with their existing IDX practice
management system, and 4) a server-based application model. Harbin determined
that Allscripts was the only vendor that met all of these conditions.

“We knew technology was the key to collecting patient data from multiple points
and delivering it back to the physicians where and when they need it,” said J.
Paul Ferguson, M.D., President and Chief Executive Officer of Harbin Clinic.
“The TouchWorks solution brings patient data to our physicians through PDA’s on
a wireless network, through desktop workstations, and even through their PC’s at
home while maintaining confidentiality and decreasing potential errors.” Harbin
officials also cited an established customer base, user-friendly interface, and
the financial stability of Allscripts as additional reasons for selecting the
TouchWorks solution.

“Harbin Clinic and Allscripts share the same goal: improving healthcare by
bringing the right information to physicians wherever care is delivered, a
concept we call Just Right, Just-in-Time Information(TM),” stated Glen Tullman,
Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts Healthcare Solutions. “Allscripts actively
seeks to work with healthcare leaders, like Harbin, to improve healthcare by
leveraging leading-edge software and hardware technology.”

Allscripts has recently announced several other agreements with leaders in the
healthcare industry, including Hawaii Medical Service Association (HMSA) — the
largest healthcare insurer in Hawaii, Aurora Health Care — the largest
not-for-profit health care system in Wisconsin, and two divisions of Advocate
Health Care — the largest integrated health care delivery network in Illinois.

Harbin will integrate TouchWorks with their existing IDX Group Practice
Management System (GPMS). Harbin has been an IDX customer since 1997. The
integration of TouchWorks and GPMS drives operational improvements by more
directly linking clinical and financial activities. For example, using a
handheld device, doctors and nurses can enter patient encounter related
information at the point of care using TouchWorks Charge(TM) and then submit the
data wirelessly to the GPMS software, a more efficient process that ensures
accuracy and speeds reimbursement. Through an exclusive 10-year alliance,
Allscripts and IDX provide integration between TouchWorks clinical applications
and IDX practice management software. As a part of this alliance, IDX customers
receive this integration at no additional cost.
