CHICAGO & BOWLING GREEN, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 22, 2005-- Kentucky Physician Group to Leverage EHR to Connect Physicians and Provide Instant Access to Clinical Information
Allscripts Healthcare Solutions (Nasdaq:MDRX), the leading
provider of clinical software, connectivity and information solutions
that physicians use to improve healthcare, announced today that
Graves-Gilbert Clinic will implement the TouchWorks(TM) Electronic
Health Record (EHR) for the group’s 52 physicians. The Allscripts
solution will enhance patient care and boost the productivity of
Graves-Gilbert’s physicians by enabling instant connectivity between
multiple healthcare facilities and real-time access to clinical data.
“Our medical group is excited because we believe the Allscripts
electronic health record will free our physicians to focus even more
on patient care by automating daily clinical tasks such as prescribing
medications, ordering lab tests, reviewing test results, and
documenting clinical encounters,” said Steve Sinclair, Associate
Administrator of the growing multi-specialty medical group. “We have
been waiting for EHR technology to advance to the point of being
practical, easy to install and user-friendly as a replacement for the
paper medical record. We are convinced that Allscripts has achieved
those goals.”
While other EHRs can take several years to be fully implemented,
TouchWorks EHR from Allscripts speeds and simplifies installation
through a unique modular approach that permits physicians to start
with a single application and evolve over time to a complete mobile
electronic health record. In addition to automating physicians’ most
time-consuming tasks, Allscripts award-winning EHR also offers
enhanced patient safety measures such as automated medical practice
guidelines and alerts that notify physicians of potentially dangerous
drug interactions.
“Graves-Gilbert Clinic has built a reputation as a premier medical
group dedicated to assuring the well-being of its patients with its
excellent medical staff and high quality clinical and administrative
systems,” said Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts.
“Implementing an EHR certainly demonstrates the depth of the clinic’s
commitment to the patients in this region. The EHR will keep
Graves-Gilbert’s physicians informed by providing effective and timely
clinical information, and by connecting them to each other and the
broader community of care including hospitals, labs and pharmacies.
When physicians are informed and connected, they can transform
healthcare, improving both the efficiency and quality of care.”
Graves-Gilbert plans to install the Allscripts TouchWorks EHR in
several phases, beginning with the automation of more than 80,000
patient records currently stored on paper.
