CHICAGO & ROME, Ga.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–March 16, 2005–
Regional Georgia Group to Provide Physicians and Residents Real-Time
Access to Patient Records, Lab Results and Clinical Data
Across Nine Communities
Allscripts Healthcare Solutions (Nasdaq:MDRX), the leading
provider of clinical software, connectivity and information solutions
that physicians use to improve healthcare, announced that Floyd, a
leading healthcare system in Northwest Georgia, will implement the
TouchWorks(TM) Electronic Health Record (EHR) to connect its network
of physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and
residents. The Web-hosted Allscripts solution will enable Floyd’s
providers in nine communities to access up-to-date clinical
information on patients wherever and whenever they need it.
“It’s impossible for even the best physicians to remember all the
details of a patient’s care, but with the Allscripts EHR our
physicians will have all the information they need to make informed
decisions, available instantly at their finger tips,” said Al Davis,
Administrator of Floyd Primary Care. “Our physicians are truly excited
by the EHR’s ability to provide a seamless connection to the entire
continuum of care, helping them to work more efficiently while
enhancing the quality of care they provide our patients.”
TouchWorks initially will serve members of the Floyd Primary Care
network and residents in the Floyd Family Practice Residency Program.
Davis said Floyd was eager to maintain the competitiveness of its
highly regarded residency program by implementing the Allscripts EHR.
He also expects the Allscripts solution to add to Floyd’s already
considerable reputation for quality service. Floyd ranks first in the
state of Georgia in overall employee satisfaction, according to a
survey by HR Solutions Inc. The nonprofit hospital also was recently
named “Large Hospital of the Year” by the Georgia Alliance of
Community Hospitals and was one of six national customer service
success stories recognized by Press Ganey Associates.
“Floyd’s commitment to providing the highest possible level of
care and customer service is reflected in their decision to implement
the TouchWorks EHR,” said Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of
Allscripts. “Our award-winning clinical information solutions are
helping to transform healthcare by consistently delivering significant
improvements in quality, efficiency and productivity.”
Floyd chose Allscripts from among a host of other EHR providers
for three reasons, Davis said.
“First, Allscripts has a proven track record of implementing
successful clinical EHRs with similar healthcare organizations,” said
Davis. “Second, the Allscripts EHR can be deployed one module at a
time, providing physicians the functionality they need most when
they’re ready for it. And finally, TouchWorks integrates seamlessly
with Floyd’s existing Groupcast(TM) practice management solution from
IDX Systems Corporation, directly linking clinical and financial
activities. After considering all of those factors, we really didn’t
give much serious thought to other EHR vendors.”
The TouchWorks EHR simplifies the art, science, and process of
caring for patients by automating the most common physician
activities, including prescribing medications, ordering lab tests,
viewing test results, and documenting clinical encounters. The
award-winning EHR also offers enhanced patient safety measures such as
automated medical practice guidelines and alerts that warn physicians
of potentially dangerous drug interactions.
