DALLAS & CHICAGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Jan. 26, 2006–Allscripts
(Nasdaq:MDRX), the leading provider of clinical software, connectivity
and information solutions that physicians use to improve healthcare,
today announced that Cooper Clinic, nationally recognized for its
leadership role in preventive medicine, will deploy the TouchWorks(TM)
Electronic Health Record to automate the clinic’s 20 physicians, in an
agreement valued at approximately $500,000.

Cooper Clinic required an electronic health record that would
provide physicians with real-time information with a strong focus on
health maintenance alerts, notification of potential drug
interactions, and other real-time clinical and patient education
information to support its role in proactive and preventive care
delivery. In fulfilling the Clinic’s mission to provide patients with
the tools and education to live a healthy lifestyle, Cooper Clinic
understood that the adoption of health information technology was a
required step to deliver world-class preventive care and would further
enhance the way care is delivered at the clinic, providing physicians
with a safe, secure and interoperable electronic health record.

“Allscripts is a well established company with both the expertise
and the application to ensure that this initiative is successful,”
said Robert Nelson, Jr., Administrator of Cooper Clinic. “The
web-based program not only allows for our physicians to provide
advanced medical care, but also enables The Cooper Institute, a
nonprofit 501 (c)(3), to streamline our research efforts.”

Cooper Clinic is considered an expert on preventive medicine, and
stays true to the mission of its founder, Kenneth H. Cooper, M.D.,
M.P.H. Recognized as launching the world to exercise, Dr. Cooper
created the word ‘aerobics’ when he wrote his first book in 1968. He
later went on to create eight different entities that are collectively
known as Cooper Aerobics Center.

“Cooper Clinic has once again demonstrated its commitment to
world-class preventive medicine by implementing a solution that will
provide physicians instant access to the most up-to-date clinical
information, anywhere, anytime,” said Glen Tullman, Chief Executive
Officer of Allscripts. “The Allscripts solution allows the Clinic to
further collaborate with The Cooper Institute, and also help set the
standard for high quality healthcare.”

Cooper Clinic will interface TouchWorks with the existing GE
Centricity practice management system to share financial, demographic
and financial information across the network.
