CHICAGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Nov. 23, 2004–Allscripts Healthcare
Solutions (Nasdaq: MDRX), the leading provider of clinical software,
connectivity and information solutions that physicians use to improve
healthcare, announced today that the Company received the BBB’s 2004
Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics. The annual award recognizes
companies for demonstrating high ethical standards of behavior toward
customers, suppliers, shareholders, employees, and communities in
which they do business.
“The Better Business Bureau’s Chicago chapter applauds Allscripts
Healthcare Solutions for their moral and ethical leadership,” stated
James E. Baumhart, President and CEO of the Better Business Bureau of
Chicago and Northern Illinois. “Allscripts is a shining example of our
efforts to promote and foster the highest ethical relationship between
businesses and the public through voluntary self-regulation, consumer
and business education, and service excellence.”
A panel of independent judges selected Allscripts for this award
from a field of approximately 100 other nominated companies in the
100-999 employee category. This year included the largest group of
companies the BBB has ever had enter the program, with more than 300
companies nominated across all categories.
“This award is a testament to our employees whose ethical business
practices at every level of the organization are critical to our
company’s success,” noted Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of
Allscripts Healthcare Solutions. “Today more than ever, we are aware
of the importance and the value of winning the right way, by providing
world class software our clients use to improve healthcare, by giving
back to our local communities through participation of our employees,
and by providing a great environment for our people to work and
succeed.”
One element of Allscripts’ success is an innovative Internet-based
e-learning program focused on ethics. The Company requires all
employees to complete this interactive tutorial and test to ensure
that all employees understand how ethics play a key role in the
success of every company today. The program, which takes about 10
minutes to complete, balances between informative sections and
follow-up questions to reinforce learning and ensure comprehension.
The program operates on a platform developed by the Physicians
Interactive division of Allscripts and is similar to what the Company
uses to educate physicians across the world.
The award will be presented to Allscripts at a ceremony to be held
on December 2, 2004, in the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza Wolf Point
Ballroom. Allscripts has been invited to compete for the International
Torch Award.
