SAN DIEGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Feb. 13, 2006–From the floor of the
2006 HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society)
Annual Conference and Exhibition, Allscripts (Nasdaq:MDRX), the
leading provider of clinical software, connectivity and information
solutions that physicians use to improve healthcare, today announced
that the TouchWorks(TM) Electronic Health Record will be featured at
the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase.
Allscripts will demonstrate interoperability with other healthcare
information technology applications in a setting that will be
structured as a Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO).
Attendees at HIMSS will experience interoperability as they create and
manage their own virtual health record and access it across multiple
healthcare settings within the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase.
Additionally, thirteen of the vendors will demonstrate how they
access, create and share patient records in real-time, across the
floor of the exhibit hall including Allscripts, Eclipsys, GE,
McKesson, Misys, Phillips and Siemens.
“Interoperability is critical to connecting patients, providers
and other key stakeholders to deliver on the promise of a seamless
healthcare delivery system,” said Glen Tullman, Chief Executive
Officer of Allscripts. “The Showcase enables Allscripts to demonstrate
how our solution works in real-world and real-time patient care
scenarios, providing instant access to a complete clinical record,
incorporating clinical information from all providers across the
continuum of care.”
This is the second consecutive year Allscripts has participated in
the Interoperability Showcase at HIMSS. The 2006 Integrating the
Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) profiles build upon the success of the
preliminary integration work that was demonstrated in past years, as
well as provides new content in the form of Medical Summary documents.
Medical Summaries capture the context of a healthcare encounter and
include information on allergies, medications and problems.
Allscripts will demonstrate how a physician can generate notes and
send referrals to an outside specialist, as well as show a number of
different scenarios where clinical information is moved between the
public and private sector.
