SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Oct. 4, 2004–From the floor of
the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) 2004 Annual
Conference, Allscripts Healthcare Solutions (Nasdaq:MDRX), the leading
provider of clinical software, connectivity and information solutions
that physicians use to improve healthcare, announced today the launch
of TouchWorks(TM) version 10 (v10), the latest edition of their
award-winning electronic medical record (EMR). TouchWorks v10 is the
second major release of the industry’s leading EMR solution this year,
following the general release of version 9.2 in February 2004.

During presentations at the conference, AHS representatives will
demonstrate v10 features including:

    -- ChartViewer(TM)

    -- Enhanced Health Management Plans

    -- Orderable QuickSets(TM)

    -- Enhanced Note Features

    -- Patient Snapshot(TM)

“Continuous software improvement is key to building and
maintaining physician utilization of an EMR solution,” said J. Peter
Geerlofs, MD, Chief Medical Officer of Allscripts Healthcare
Solutions. “Our focus at Allscripts is on a concept called IDDUINEM —
If Doctors Don’t Use It, Nothing Else Matters. Version 10 is focused
on driving even more value for physicians.”

Initial response from clients has been quite positive. Affinity
Medical Group in Tifton, GA, was one of the first TouchWorks clients
to go live on the latest upgrade. One of the largest multi-specialty
healthcare facilities in southern Georgia, Affinity has been a
TouchWorks client since 2002 with more than 27 physicians utilizing
the EMR.

“The new features of TouchWorks v10 make it easier to access the
patient data I need to make better decisions about their care,” said
Chris Madden, MD, of Affinity. “With enhanced workflow capabilities,
I can document patient care faster and more completely than before.”

“As one of the leading medical care groups in southern Georgia we
rely on the TouchWorks v10 to raise the standard of care for our
patients,” said Ray Cross, CEO of Affinity Health Group. “This latest
software upgrade enables our physicians to become more efficient,
allowing the physicians to spend more time with their patients.”

TouchWorks v10 brings a new series of enhancements to the most
advanced electronic medical record and clinical automation suite
designed specifically for physicians. These features include:

ChartViewer

ChartViewer technology allows physicians to organize a chart in a
completely customized fashion, enabling rapid retrieval of patient
records and providing an intuitive way to assess patterns in patient
care. Physicians can search, group and filter items in whatever manner
they choose. For example, they can instantly organize a chart to
display all labs by problem, or all notes within the last three
months.

Health Management

TouchWorks delivers hundreds of standard health management plans
to better manage patient care and customize disease and health
activities over time. All “near due” and “overdue” alerts are
displayed within the patient’s health management plan and display
within the Patient SnapShot.

QuickSets

TouchWorks seamlessly manages common medication and diagnostic
disease-based order sets based on the physician’s ordering history.
Automatic checks are conducted for drug interactions, prior adverse
reactions, medical necessity, and duplicate orders. Printing and
routing are automatically completed rapidly improving the ordering
process.

Enhanced Note Features

TouchWorks introduces exciting features to clinical documentation
including anatomical markup and problem promotion. Additionally, using
past information, physicians can create a note, alter a few areas via
charting by exception and insert any number of anatomical images for
markup from the TouchWorks image library. This dramatically speeds
clinical documentation and management.

Patient SnapShot

Enhancement in SnapShot provides the ability to attach pictures to
any patient record improving overall patient safety. All ‘near due’
and ‘overdue’ health alert reminders are listed to help you manage
your patient’s personal health management plan.

v10 Training: E-University

Additionally, in partnership with The Abreon Group, AHS is pleased
to announce the launch of the new “E-University” education service,
designed to transition end-users from TouchWorks 9.x to TouchWorks v10
quickly and effectively. Through E-University, TouchWorks users will
learn the features, benefits, and most importantly, how their use of
the TouchWorks system will change with the organization’s upgrade to
v10. These interactive training courses with learning checks followed
by a knowledge evaluation will properly prepare users for “Go Live,”
facilitating client organizations’ smooth transitions to TouchWorks
v10.

For organizations with additional training needs, The Abreon Group
also offers Coaching Services to end users for a period of time
immediately following the upgrade. This “safety-net” offers clients
immediate access to expert TouchWorks consultants, either on-site or
through a dedicated toll-free telephone number. The Abreon Group has
extensive education and training experience in the healthcare
industry, and their certified trainers have been servicing TouchWorks
clients’ educational needs since 2003.
