Partnership Delivers Advanced Clinical Trials Management Software to
Help Medical Groups Streamline Participation in Clinical Research
From the floor of the 2006 HIMSS (Healthcare Information and
Management Systems Society) Annual Conference and Exhibition,
Allscripts (Nasdaq:MDRX), the leading provider of clinical software,
connectivity and information solutions that physicians use to improve
healthcare, announced today a strategic partnership with Advanced
Clinical Software (ACS), the developer of Study Manager(TM), the most
widely deployed Clinical Trials management software used by more than
10,000 research professionals in more than 1,800 provider
organizations and clinics nationwide.
The Allscripts and ACS combined solution enables medical practices
and research professionals to streamline the process of participating
in clinical trials, recruiting patients and electronically reviewing
charts. The integration of Study Manager and the TouchWorks(TM)
Electronic Health Record provides physician practices with the data
tools to be more productive in their participation in clinical
research, resulting in advanced care options for patients and improved
profitability for the practice.
Holston Medical Group, in Kingsport, Tennessee, has been using
this combined solution in their clinical trials process for more than
three years and currently generates approximately $3 million annually
in research revenue.
“The combination of TouchWorks and Study Manager makes it possible
for us to provide the highest level of patient care while, at the same
time, easily and effectively participating in clinical trials to drive
additional revenue for our practice,” said Jerry Miller, MD, Medical
Director and President of Holston Medical Group.
Study Manager enables research administrators to closely manage
study operations including comprehensive, multi-arm, multi-site
clinical trials. By monitoring studies in real-time, administrators
can take control of their research programs with an intuitive system
that users can learn to utilize in less than one day.
“Providing the first EHR with integrated clinical trials
management builds on our commitment to offer clinical information
technology solutions that drive the transformation of healthcare,”
stated Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts.
“TouchWorks is fast becoming known as the ‘electronic health record
that pays you back’, by providing our clients with functionality that
extends the value of the electronic health record.”
