CHICAGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Oct. 26, 2004–Allscripts Healthcare
Solutions (Nasdaq:MDRX), the leading provider of clinical software,
connectivity and information solutions that physicians use to improve
healthcare, announced new TouchWorks(TM) electronic medical record
(EMR) agreements with CardioVascular Associates, Cedar Valley Medical
Specialists and Granger Medical Clinic.
CardioVascular Associates:
CardioVascular Associates (CVA), the oldest, largest and a very
well respected cardiovascular practice in Louisville, KY, has selected
the TouchWorks EMR and the IDX Groupcast(TM) practice management
system for their physicians.
CVA selected TouchWorks to improve their access to patient data
through paperless operations. With five locations throughout the
greater Louisville metropolitan area, the TouchWorks EMR will make all
patient records instantly accessible from any office, exam room, or
even the physicians’ homes via a secure Internet connection.
“Part of our commitment to delivering the highest level of
cardiovascular care with personal, caring service is providing our
physicians with the best technology that enables them to access the
patient data they need anytime and anywhere they need it,” said
Timothy J. Higgins, Administrator of CardioVascular Associates. “The
EMR will assist our physicians in the diagnosis, treatment,
prevention, and education of cardiovascular disease in the care of our
patients.”
CVA will integrate their TouchWorks EMR with Groupcast(TM) from
IDX Systems Corporation, the leading provider of patient management,
financial management, and decision support solutions for mid- to
larger-size group medical practices and physician service
organizations. Groupcast helps group practices and physician service
organizations manage their costs and enhance their patients’ overall
experience with best-in-class revenue cycle management solutions,
universal connectivity to other patient data sources, and a unique,
patient-centered design with simplified role based workflow.
Cedar Valley Medical Specialists:
Cedar Valley Medical Specialists (CVMS) selected and has already
begun installation of the TouchWorks EMR for their physicians. With
more than 50 physicians in 15 medical fields, CVMS is the largest,
non-primary care multi-specialty practice in the region.
With multiple locations in the Waterloo, IA, area, CVMS turned to
TouchWorks to consolidate patient records electronically, making
patient data available to all of their physicians at all times in all
locations.
“TouchWorks will bring operational efficiencies that will increase
patient safety, reduce transcription costs, and bring value to our
physicians through enhanced access to information,” declared Gil Irey,
Chief Executive Officer of CVMS. “Our physicians, medical staff and IT
team view this as an opportunity to advance the patient care that we
deliver and our entire executive team is very supportive of this
initiative.”
CVMS will integrate TouchWorks with their existing Groupcast
practice management system. CVMS has been an IDX customer since 1994.
The integration of TouchWorks and Groupcast will directly link
clinical and financial activities and drive operational improvements.
Granger Medical Clinic:
Granger Medical Clinic (GMC), a 55-provider multi-specialty
practice celebrating their 50th anniversary this year, is implementing
TouchWorks for their physicians. Based in the Salt Lake City area, GMC
is one of the larger independent multi-specialty groups in Utah.
The reasons for selecting an EMR are obvious, according to Josh
Nelson, Administrator of GMC, so the question for GMC was not whether
to buy an EMR, but which one to select. Nelson cited the strength of
Allscripts Healthcare Solutions as a business partner as a key
deciding factor while comparing products from multiple vendors.
“Allscripts impressed us with their appropriately persistent
responsiveness and their candor as much as the abilities of their EMR
product,” said Nelson. “The Allscripts we experienced in the sales
process is already proving to be equally positive during
implementation, and we look forward to a long and beneficial
partnership with them.”
“While we’re very focused on the quality of our award-winning EMR
product, we’re proud that the quality of our people and our client
references are an equally compelling reasons to select TouchWorks,”
stated Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts Healthcare
Solutions.
