CHICAGO & AKRON, Ohio–(BUSINESS WIRE)–June 13, 2006–Allscripts
(Nasdaq:MDRX), the leading provider of clinical software, connectivity
and information solutions that physicians use to improve healthcare,
today announced that one of Ohio’s largest networks of pediatric
physician groups has selected HealthMatics(R) Electronic Health Record
(EHR) from Allscripts subsidiary A4 Health Systems to connect and
automate its 14 practices.

Children’s Hospital Physician Associates (CHPA) is a network of 50
primary care pediatric physicians and 38 residents in small group
practices throughout Northeastern Ohio. The group is a fully-owned
subsidiary of Akron Children’s Hospital, the largest pediatric care
provider in Northeast Ohio with nearly 400,000 patients and more
pediatric surgeries than any other hospital in the region.

“The Electronic Health Record from Allscripts will allow us to
provide higher quality care while making us more efficient than ever
and enabling our physicians to see more patients in the same amount of
time,” said Les Sherman, Vice President of Practice Management at
CHPA. “Patient safety will improve through automated management of
medications and by providing point-of-care clinical support for our
physicians.”

HealthMatics EHR brings CHPA physicians instant access to medical
records when and where they need them – in the clinic or while on-call
at home. HealthMatics automates and speeds everyday clinical tasks
such as prescribing and refilling medications, ordering and viewing
tests, and documenting care. An easy-to-use and customizable solution,
HealthMatics features robust clinical tools that support safe medical
practices, including health maintenance alerts, clinical decision
support, electronic prescribing and automated drug interaction
checking.

The physicians group selected Allscripts following a six-month
evaluation process and visits to several other groups that have
successfully implemented an Electronic Health Record.

“What impressed our physicians more than anything was how easy the
system is to use,” said Sherman. “It’s the perfect solution for a
pediatric practice. We felt the learning curve would be very
manageable, which was important to training a number of smaller groups
across multiple locations, and we also liked the system’s
functionality, including its methodology for handling prescriptions
and prescription refills quickly but with the utmost safety.”

CHPA will integrate HealthMatics EHR with their existing IDX(R)
Groupcast(TM) practice management system.

“HealthMatics features easy to use, easy to train software that
makes it simpler for smaller practices to deploy the software to
connect multiple locations,” said Glen Tullman, Chief Executive
Officer of Allscripts. “And the faster to implement, the faster the
practice can ensure they provide the safest, highest quality care for
the children they treat.”
