leading provider of clinical software, connectivity and information solutions

ABQ Health Partners is the largest physician-owned multi-specialty group
practice in the Southwest with 18 locations in Albuquerque, Rio Rancho and
Santa Fe. Previously known as Lovelace Medical Group, ABQ Health Partners
recently announced its independence from Lovelace’s parent company, Ardent
Health Services. The medical group will provide the Electronic Health Record
from Allscripts to its physicians, giving them the latest tools to continue an
80-year-long commitment to delivering high quality patient care.
“Allscripts delivers all the advantages of an interactive,
state-of-the-art electronic health record to connect our providers to each
other and to the information they need to make sound decisions,” said Harry
Magnes, M.D., President and Chief Executive Officer of ABQ Health Partners.
“Now we’ll be able to deliver the modern benefits that patients are coming to
expect of their physicians, including receiving automatic reminders when
preventive tests are due or when lab results are abnormal, providing
coordinated disease management across our patient population and identifying
clinical trials that might help patients receive improved care.”
The Electronic Health Record from Allscripts replaces costly, error-prone
paper record keeping by automating everyday clinical tasks such as prescribing
medications, ordering and viewing laboratory tests, and documenting patient
care. The solution will connect ABQ Health Partner’s physicians and other
caregivers to laboratories, pharmacies, insurers and other key healthcare
stakeholders, while delivering secure, immediate access to patient information
at the point of care — whether in the office, at the hospital or remotely.
“With their roots in one of the oldest and most respected physician groups
in the Western United States, ABQ Health Partners is continuing their
commitment to patients by using the latest technology to deliver world class
patient care,” said Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts.
Dr. Magnes said he expected Allscripts to generate significant financial
savings, for example by eliminating a significant amount of the $3 million the
group spends each year transcribing physician-dictated notes. Allscripts
allows physicians to dictate directly into the system and uses sophisticated
voice recognition software to transcribe a physician’s notes into the
electronic record.
Allscripts also will integrate with ABQ Health Partner’s existing IDX/GE
practice management system, connecting the clinical and financial functions
for enhanced productivity and patient service.
