How Wheeling Hospital expanded its EHR to ambulatory settings.

Prior to implementing SunriseTM Ambulatory, Wheeling Hospital staff had trouble tracking patients across care settings and systems.

They had a mix of paper processes and disparate solutions and were looking for an interoperable answer to track patients across all levels of care and services, according to family physician Dr. William Przybysz, Clinical Analyst Trevor Nickerson, and Sean Loy, Director of Clinical Informatics.

The primary reason Wheeling Hospital chose Sunrise Ambulatory was need for a fully integrated EHR. Wheeling Hospital “wanted to make sure that no matter where you were within the health system, you had your ER integrated, your pharmacy and all the clinical areas that you would document in a patient...visible within one platform,” Dr. Przybysz said.

With this new single platform solution across care settings, Wheeling Hospital has improved coordination with other care settings and specialties.
