Building Communities: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Allscripts
As a global company, Allscripts understands the importance of diversity and providing an inclusive work environment that enables everyone to succeed. The Allscripts Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) program was built on the foundation that together, we can positively affect people’s lives and the communities that we serve. Its charter, strategy and goals reflect the Allscripts commitment to fostering a culture in which everyone feels respected and valued.
An important part of our DEI program is supporting Enrichment Groups. These groups are critical in helping build a sense of community and grow an environment in which every voice is heard and valued. Enrichment Groups serve as voluntary workplace networks for associates with shared characteristics, special interests or life experiences. These groups are generally associate-initiated and -led, rather than leadership-run. These affinity groups support professional development and mentoring, while offering opportunities to network internally, discuss common concerns, share ideas and give back to the communities we serve.
Here’s a quick overview of the Enrichment Groups offered at Allscripts. In the spirit of enabling environments focused on community growth and education, these groups are open to all associates.
Allscripts Women’s Engagement (AWE)
AWE’s mission aims to assist women in managing their careers and professional development, while also helping develop Allscripts as a workplace of choice and creating professional development opportunities for women to excel. In September, AWE hosted its 2021 Virtual Retreat, featuring keynote speaker Dr. Taryn Stejskal, founder of the Resilience Leadership Institute. Attendees also had the opportunity to participate in interactive sessions on allyship in the workplace, creating authentic connections within the virtual world, tips on communicating with confidence, adopting the habits of high performers and more.
Generation Next (GenNext)
Allscripts GenNext is a career development group. Focused on helping younger, emerging professionals, this group offers fun and engaging opportunities to develop socially, professionally and civically. Monthly general member meetings are held, as well as social and service events at most Allscripts locations.
Allscripts Black Alliance (ABA)
ABA is committed to providing a space for our Black associates and allies to promote equity initiatives at Allscripts through education and awareness. This group participates in give back events and other programs that support the Black community. It also provides members with professional development, networking and mentorship opportunities across the organization.
Hispanic Outreach for Latinos at Allscripts (HOLA)
HOLA supports our Hispanic, Latino and Latina team members through meaningful employment in the healthcare industry. HOLA provides a forum for networking and offers our associates continued training, professional development and mentoring. This group also participates in give back opportunities that invest in our team members and their families.
Veterans and Allies
The Veterans and Allies Enrichment Group works to recruit veterans, offering a culture that shares their values as they transition into civilian life after their service. This Enrichment Group provides veterans, spouses and parents of veterans a platform for networking with others with similar values, leadership roles, backgrounds and skills. Veterans are offered continued training and professional development as they determine where and how to invest their skill sets. The group also participates in veteran-focused Give back opportunities.
Allscripts Pride Alliance (APA)
APA promotes an inclusive, safe and open work environment that empowers LGBTQ+ employees and allies, as well as informs and educates Allscripts through networking and outreach initiatives. APA provides LGBTQ+ and allies a forum for networking with others with similar values, leadership roles, backgrounds and skills. APA also promotes give back opportunities through community programs that invest and support impactful efforts to eliminate discrimination, advocate for equality, provide access to healthcare and social support, and protect basic rights for the LGBTQ+ community.
