One of our responsibilities as your technology partner is to ensure our products meet a certain standard for product functionality and are certified to have done so. After reading the Rule, it’s clear that we will, as planned, be able to attain Meaningful Use certification for each of our EHR products, and we will do so in time for you to earn incentives in 2011. In fact, Allscripts will guarantee that our products will meet the Meaningful Use criteria by being able to deliver all reporting and connectivity requirements, or we’ll refund twelve months worth of maintenance fees! That’s a real guarantee!
As an aside, one of the things we were pleased to see in the Standards Rule is that it did not make proscriptive requirements regarding how an EHR should meet certain criteria, but rather, just what the end product capability should be. This will enable us, as a product developer, to not only ensure we do what the Rules demand but also continue to be responsive to our clients in producing the most innovative products in the market.
