INTERIM FINAL RULE ON EPRESCRIBING CONTROLLED SUBSTANCESOn March 31, 2010 the DEA published its “Electronic Prescriptions for Controlled Substances” IFR that establishes rules for electronically prescribing controlled substances. This is a major milestone and will require significant changes in the industry to turn this rule into reality. In the meantime, providers can and should continue to electronically create and print controlled substance prescriptions using their current prescribing solutions. |
