Government Intiatives

Meet the demanding HIE requirements and government mandates

Government Initiatives

Manage and coordinate care for your patient populations

Allscripts product portfolio continues to evolve and meet the demanding HIE requirements and government mandates. This means that understanding the criteria and processes is critical, as is selecting the right technology partner. And we are that partner.

The HITECH (Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health) Act provides financial incentives to physicians and other healthcare stakeholders to adopt EHRs. It presents an unparalleled opportunity for the healthcare industry to modernize itself for greater efficiency, quality and cost containment. Core requirements of HITECH include Meaningful Use Stage 2, ICD-10 and ACOs.

Attesting for Meaningful Use?

Allscripts is ready to help you meet Meaningful Use requirements today. Our expert teams can help ensure your attestation and demonstration periods move forward as smoothly as possible.

In fact, new CMS data on Meaningful Use shows that Allscripts is now one of two leading health IT vendors in 2014 attestations. Nearly 6,000 eligible professional Allscripts clients participating in the program attested to 2014 Meaningful Use in January alone.

Our data shows there’s still work to be done. If you demonstrated Meaningful Use in 2014, the deadline to attest to that demonstration is March 20, 2015. Contact us today if you need assistance.

And click here if you have questions about 2015 Meaningful Use attestation.

We look forward to working with you to ensure you meet the necessary requirements of Meaningful Use. Thank you for your continued support.

Requirements

Meaningful Use Stage 2

Each MU requirement is a stepping stone that leads organizations toward improved outcomes and reduced costs. Combined with the right technology and processes, these stepping stones create the foundation for organizations to better position themselves in a healthcare marketplace that is moving toward population health management.

ICD-10

On April 1, 2014 President Obama signed into law H.R. 4302, “Protecting Access to Medicare Act of 2014,” which creates a temporary “patch” to the Medicare sustainable growth rate (SGR) and delays the deadline for implementation of ICD-10 until October 2015. We continue to believe that the transition to ICD-10 is inevitable given the health policy priorities of this country. The delay in legislation will not impact our efforts to ensure our clients meet their regulatory goals.

Accountable Care

Physician practices now lead more accountable care organizations (ACOs) than hospitals and health systems do. Many physician practices are participating in and creating ACOs to achieve the Triple Aim developed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS): improving population health and the patient experience and managing costs.
