A: Yes, in order to utilize Allscripts Remote, a user must have an active user account on either Enterprise or Professional EHR.

Q: Can I lock down an iPhone?
A: Yes - in Settings > General > Restrictions you can set device password and then turn off access to Safari, YouTube, iTunes, Installing Apps and Camera. This removes the icons from the device.
Q: Do I need to have iTunes?
A: iTunes is only needed to activate the device. Is not needed for Allscritpts Remote to function. iTunes or access to the Apple AppStore is required to install or update Cobra.
Q: Is there an easy way to set up Remote on the device?
A: Yes - a profile can be sent to the iPhone that includes the VPN and server settings These settings vary from site to site & must be created by your local IT administrator.

A: Follow your existing EHR forgotten password policy.
Q: Does Allscripts Remote store any PHI data on the iPhone?
A: NO. Remote does not store any data on the device. Allscripts Remote is not a web application and does not have any cached data, as a web browser would have.
Q: How can access to Remote be controlled?
A: Access to Remote can be secured behind up to 4 levels of passwords.
- (optional) Device 4-digit "Passcode" (set by the user)
- VPN Password (set by the practice IT administrator)
- (optional) Network access password (set by the practice IT administrator)
- EHR password (set by the EHR administrator)
The iPhone can remember the VPN and Remote passwords. If these are not entered, Remote will prompt you every time.
Q: Can I automatically lock the iPhone?
A: Yes. The device can be set to Auto-Lock after a configurable period of time. Additionally, the device can be set to erase all data on the iPhone after 10 failed passcode attempts.
Q: Is the data transmission encrypted between the iPhone and the EHR?
A: Yes - a secure VPN or HTTPS connection is used to access data from the EHR.
Q: What happens if I lose my iPhone?
A: Change your EHR password to prevent unauthorized access to the EHR. Contact Allscripts support as we may be able to assist you in finding your iPhone.
