Can a physician legally dispense prescription pharmaceuticals from their office?
Yes, a physician can dispense medications to their own patients. There are only four states that have some restrictions (New York, Montana, Texas, and Massachusetts). Our regulatory specialists can assist you in providing your states specific information.

In most states it can be an employee working under the direction and supervision of the physician. In other states the physician, registered nurse, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant are required to do the dispensing. How long does it take to get the medications?
Allscripts has the highest fill rate in the industry-over 98%. Allscripts works diligently to ensure prompt delivery of your order. Our customers can expect orders to ship routinely within 24 to 48 hours from the time the order is placed (excluding orders received after 1:00 Friday, Saturday orders and Sunday's orders which will be processed on Monday).
