Alberta Health Services

Alberta Health Services (AHS) provides healthcare and wellness services to nearly 4 million residents of Alberta and surrounding Canadian provinces. Working closely with each other, the clinical business and informatics teams in the Calgary Zone use Sunrise to improve clinical and financial results.

Outcomes:

  • Saved C$600,000 by improving ordering processes for a single transfusion medication
  • Pilot program increased number of diabetic patients with controlled, in-range blood sugars from 38% to 66%

Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust

Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust is a high-performing, integrated provider of acute, community, and primary care services, known for pioneering the “harm free care” concept for improving patient safety, with some of the best results in the UK.

It provides local services to the City of Salford (population 220,000) and specialist services to Greater Manchester and beyond, treating about 400,000 patients every year. It serves one of the most deprived local authorities nationally. The majority of its acute services are located at the Salford Royal Hospital site. It provides specialist and community services at other sites.

The EPR procurement was a priority project for the Board and involved a lengthy consultation period for ensuring the RFP incorporated all department and user requirements. Vendors were scored across functionality, integration, migration capabilities, usability, and price. The trust highlights Sunrise Clinicals' flexibility and configuration as key differentiation. This has been important for a number of reasons:

 

  • Products designed for the US market need to be configured for the UK.
  • Compliance with NHS safety standards is crucial.  (Government regulations)
  • Customers need to know the system is future proof and is flexible enough to incorporate new functionality further down the road.
  • Allscripts will integrate/wrap around other systems.

This recognition marks the second consecutive year Sunrise has earned the top spot for large hospitals and academic medical centers. We also achieved this recognition in 2014.
