Our Sunrise Prescription Writer enables hospital clinicians using the Sunrise suite of products to process prescriptions electronically using the SureScripts Electronic Prescribing Network, promoting medication safety, accuracy and efficiency in the prescribing process and encouraging meaningful use of the electronic health record (EHR) through full connectivity.

With Prescription Writer, clinicians can order prescriptions that are automatically recorded in the Sunrise system. Then they can check the prescription against the patient’s insurance and provide suggested covered alternatives. Prescription Writer performs clinical conflict analysis to assist in reducing potential harmful drug-to-drug interactions. Additionally, the e-prescribing tool allows pharmacies to send electronic renewal requests to the physician.

Prescription Writer works as part of Sunrise Medication Management, a true closed-loop system that integrates the entire medication prescribing, fulfillment and administration process across a hospital using a single, integrated clinical information solution.
