Joe is responsible for managing a group of Allscripts largest clients, with the goals of providing excellent client experience, meeting implementation milestones, removing business road blocks and continuing to drive the shared strategic goals of the client and the company. 

In addition, Joe serves as the executive sponsor for 14 clients.  He also leads the company's Enterprise EHR Executive Forum, which has more than 25 members representing 13 clients from around the country. The Charter for this Forum includes assisting the company in bringing the best product to our clients. In his role, Joe helps ensure alignment and then promotes rapid execution and delivery of what our clients are looking for from our solutions and the Company.

Joe has more than 23 years of experience in healthcare. He re-joined Allscripts in 2009 as Vice President, Strategic Accounts and worked with clients to deliver the company's joint strategic initiatives and goals. From May of 2010 until May of 2011, Joe served as Allscripts Chief of Staff.  He was the Chief Operating Officer for Allscripts from 1999 to 2007, beginning when the company's main business line included the repackaging of medications, and leaving having established Allscripts as the definitive ambulatory EHR company in the industry.

Since 2008, Joe has been teaching a course on Entrepreneurship and How to Build a Business at the University of Illinois (Chicago). From September 1998 to April 1999, he served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Shopping@Home, Inc. Prior to that, Joe was Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Resource Management Group of HBO and Company (HBOC), a healthcare software firm. He joined HBOC in 1997 with HBOC's acquisition of Enterprise Systems, Inc., where he held the role of President from 1993 until the acquisition.  Joe joined Enterprise Systems, Inc., in 1987 as Director of Internal Systems.  Joe began his career at Ernst & Young as a member of the audit staff focusing on healthcare.

Joe was a founding Board member of the Microsoft Healthcare User Group.  He served as a Foundation Member for CHIME and was also a member of HIMSS for many years. Joe holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and a BA from the University of Notre Dame.
