Douglas A. Gentile, MD, MBA, Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Doug Gentile is Chief Medical Officer
at Allscripts and also actively participates in product design
for the TouchWorks EHR. In addition to maintaining a clinical
practice throughout his career, Dr. Gentile's first role outside
of clinical practice was with the Decision Support Group, where
he led product design. In 1996, he, along with several partners,
founded The Crucible Group, a venture capital group focused
on healthcare. After moving to Burlington, Vermont, Dr. Gentile
joined IDX Systems Corporation as part of ChannelHealth, which
was later acquired by Allscripts. Dr. Gentile continues to
practice Emergency Medicine part time at Fletcher Allen, the
main teaching hospital of the University of Vermont College
of Medicine.
Dr. Gentile received his MD from the Medical College of Wisconsin
in 1981. In 1985 following residency, he joined the faculty
at Vanderbilt University in Emergency Medicine. In 1991, he
left Vanderbilt to obtain his MBA from the Stanford University
School of Business.
