Diane Adams, Executive Vice President of Human Resources

Diane Adams is the Executive Vice President of Human Resources (HR) for Allscripts, providing HR leadership for approximately 2500 employees.  Committed to helping others reach their potential, Ms. Adams’ passion is developing leaders.  Her focus is to shape the HR vision, culture, and talent and executive development strategies that will enable Allscripts to meet rapidly-changing business and market requirements.  Additionally, Ms. Adams will continue to develop an environment where employees are challenged, motivated and have the opportunity to achieve extraordinary results. 

Prior to Allscripts, Ms. Adams held the position of Vice President, HR, for Cisco.  She led HR for the Cisco sales organization on a global basis and for each of Cisco’s theatres (US & Canada, Japan, Europe, Emerging, and Asia Pacific), supporting 30,000 employees.  She and her team successfully hired over 25,000 people from 2003 to 2008.  A strong proponent of Cisco’s Inclusion and Diversity initiative, Ms. Adams worked across Cisco to promote a culture of inclusion, trust and mutual respect.

For over 20 years, Ms. Adams has been a leader in the high tech industry, where she held roles in Human Resources, Finance, and Field Operations.  Prior to joining Allscripts in August, 2009, and Cisco in 1995, Ms. Adams served in a number of leadership roles within Nortel and also founded and operated a successful consulting business focused on organization and leadership development. 

Ms. Adams serves on the International Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Board.  She previously served on the JDRF Board of Directors for the Triangle/Eastern North Carolina chapter for seven years. She held several key leadership positions which include Major Donor Committee Chair, JDRF Gala Chair, and Chair of the Walk to Cure Diabetes.  In addition, she was the co-executive sponsor of a joint initiative between JDRF and Cisco, which focused on building a technology platform within JDRF to accelerate a cure for Type 1 diabetes.  In July, 2008, she received an "Award of Excellence" from JDRF for her leadership with the Major Donor program and in 2009 was the recipient of the “Ruthie Award,” the Chapter’s highest volunteer leadership award. 

Ms. Adams received the “2003 Women in Leadership” award for making an impact in business and the community within the Research Triangle Park area.  She currently serves on the NC Board of Directors of “Communities in Schools,” the nation’s leading community-based organization helping kids succeed in school and prepare for life.  She also serves on the Communications Committee for the Raleigh, NC Chamber of Commerce and recently served on the UNC Board of Visitors. 

Ms. Adams has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
